The boat

The boat, left to the sea,
by the insidiousness of years
or by the strikes of countless storms,
has laid down on its side,
as if floating
were a memory
from another era.
Does its owner know it has resigned
any intention of reaching
the source of the sun?

The rainbow paints the bay in indigo, red,
yellow, green, and blue,
it seems the rainbow knows where the sun hides,
it tells the sleeping ship,
it’s time to rise,
the legends say that there,
right there, lies the desired treasure,
that there,
seeking the sun should be a desire
it never lets go of.

A notification arrives,
my heart leaps,
I thought this couldn’t happen to me anymore,
that the vaccine against disillusionment
had an efficiency of 102%,
that being at peace with myself,
I couldn’t be surprised by the gusts
of untimely heartbeats.
The message is from someone else,
not what I wanted to see,
I put away my phone
and continue with my day,
I might be crazy, but I’m still an adult, indeed.
My gaze returns to the ship,
how long has it been lying down?
Alone among hundreds of ships
still trying to fulfill their purpose –
does no one care about the loss of that ship?
No one to set it back on course?

The boat fascinates me,
it makes me think of the countless times
I have been adrift,
deaf to advice that would have set me straight,
following my own path,
I let myself be carried by what my eyes see,
I think it’s a way of surrendering
to this mindfulness thing,
it helps to quiet that stubborn part
that doesn’t want to wait,
that wants to have everything today,
but my eyes focus on what exists right now,
I let myself be carried by the movement and the colors
and by the ship that has decided
to lie on its right side
and watch life flow
from its privileged place
for eternity.
